PALLIATIVE CARE

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is a specialized type of medical care that focuses more broadly on improving quality of life and providing comfort to people of all ages with serious, chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

How is Palliative Care Different from Hospice Care?

Palliative care can be provided in conjunction with curative treatment and during any stage of a serious illness.

How Do I Know if Palliative Care is Right for Me?

Palliative care can begin once a person is diagnosed with a serious illness but does not signify that they have no hope of recovery. Some patients do recover and move out of palliative care, while others with chronic diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), may move in and out of palliative care as the need arises.
